Denim On Denim

Ellen Tailor Chambray Scarf Headband

I’ve been eyeing this jean chambray shirt for a while but couldn’t wrap my mind around it. This trend reminded me way too much of the 90′s. I mean, what’s next? Slap bracelets and acid washed jeans?! Yuck.

As I scour Pinterest, I’ve seen picture after picture of beautiful ladies wearing chambray tops with denim. We’re talking anĀ all jean outfit. I don’t have the guts to pull that off, yet, but let’s start with baby steps.

I picked up this chambray shirt at Old Navy earlier this week when the whole store was 30% off. It also gave me an excuse to rock leggings with that oh-so-amazing elastic waistband. (Can you tell I’m having a fat week?) My tip for wearing leggings: make sure your top is long enough to cover up that booty. Invest in a pair like these, also from Old Navy, with material thick enough to hide any dimples, ripples, and cellulite. (Oh come on. We all have it!)

Add a pop of color to your outfit like I did with this gray and neon orange infinity scarf. Since I was running late this morning, I figured a quick up-do would be my best bet. I did a little teasing, threw it up in a messy bun, and slapped a headband on.

What trends do you want to try but don’t think you can pull off? Better yet, what trends do you wish would go away?

Thanks Andrea. I wasn’t sure about them when I bought them but they’ve quickly become one of my favorite pairs.

Another cool trick I learned with leggings if you can’t find the thick ones is to wear tights underneath. Helps smooth things out and helps cover. Plus now that its so cold an extra layer never hurts… love the outfit!!

I love the outfit! My problem is finding long shirts that still are nice and not frumpy. And I can’t wear denim to work! Any ideas for top shopping?

Yeia sou, Elleni! Thank you for telling ladies to cover the booty! And make sure those leggings (aka yoga pants/pajamas) aren’t see through. Sweaters are my new faces w/leggings. You look great. A classic look w/the bright scarf!
Keep it up! Do some makeup tutorials! I suck @ trying new makeup trends.

You’ve inspired me to write a new blog. :) There’s a few tips to getting the good “messy” bun and I’ve found it always works best on dirty hair. I’ll try and get a new post up soon about this! Thanks for the great idea girl.
