The perks of being a single girl? Having the master bathroom all to myself! I don’t know about you but if I don’t have things where I can see them, I forget I have them. Out of sight, out of mind. There’s nothing worse than buying something only to find out that you already have a brand new bottle hiding somewhere in a drawer.
I had a basket under my sink that was filled with nail polishes. Two or there were almost the exact same shade! I was wasting money because I’d forget what I already owned. I found a shelf in my garage that was collecting dust and decided to put it to good use.
I hung the unique shelf above my bathroom towels where all of my polishes are now visible and have their own place. In the winter, I place the darker polishes up front then switch out lighter colors in the summer. Ever since hanging this up, I haven’t bought a single polish because I clearly have more than one person should ever have! (But that doesn’t mean I don’t love getting new colors in my Ipsy Glam Bag.)
With all of the polishes on display, there’s so much inspiration for fun and colorful DIY manicures. My secret to a great, smudge free, at-home manicure is Sally Hansen’s “Dries Instantly” top coat. (Click the link and get it for less than $5 bucks!) This is a must get especially for on-the-go mommies who don’t have the time to wait around for their nails to dry. Here’s a couple of cute manicure ideas that I found on Pinterest that are perfect for Valentine’s Day. (Click the photos for links.)
Perhaps you want to spoil yourself and invest in a salon manicure. If you’re in the Seattle area, let me suggest Gene Juarez. I got my first ever Shellac manicure from Aiden at the downtown location a few weeks ago and I’ll admit, I was skeptical. Would it ruin my nails? Would it last? Holy crap! The mani lasted for well over two weeks and I can’t even count how many compliments I received. And no, the Shellac absolutely did NOT ruin my nails. If you’re not in the Seattle area, show these photos to your favorite manicurist and ask if they can recreate these Valentine’s Day inspired looks.
Below are just a few of my favorite polishes.
