I’m Moving!

My many apologies for the lack of new posts lately. I’ve been in the middle of downsizing. I literally have to get rid of half of my things. I’m moving from a 1200 sq. foot place to one that’s just barely 600 sq. ft. Eek!

I’ve always taken comfort in stuff. Simply put, I don’t need much. Now’s the time to free myself of things and enjoy a smaller space. With that comes the excitement of setting up a new home. As I scoured Pinterest, I came across this phone case and thought, “That’s it!” This is the inspiration I’ll be using for my new bedroom.

Ellen Tailor Room Inspiration Mint Green Gold Chevron

While three walls will be mint green, I initially thought about painting the accent wall. Where would I find gold paint? How would I paint it exactly right? Then I found the easiest solution. Removable wallpaper! Who knew people even still made wallpaper?!

Urban Outfitters has many different options and styles but this one was perfect! The instructions claim it’s easy to remove and reapply. No fuss. I ordered it right away. Check out just a few of their other options below. (All images are clickable!)

Shoe Mistake Turned Buried Treasure

Do you know how hard it is to smile into the sun and still look normal?! I should post the outtakes from this mini-photo session because I look completely ridiculous.

I’ve been trying really hard not to buy new clothes since I’m losing weight and getting into shape. But sometimes, mama she just needs to shop! I was at Nordstrom Rack to make a return and spotted this bright tank. With the 90 degree heat in Seattle (No, it doesn’t always rain here) I knew I had to have it.

The neon green tank was paired with my new favorite accessory. The emerald jewel necklace is handmade from 616 Couture. I believe I found them while browsing Instagram and I’ve been eyeing this necklace for weeks! I was drawn to this Etsy shop because I grew up in the 616 area code, too, but all of their pieces are beautiful. Below is a better photo of the gem. (My friends say this is my Iggy Azalea face.)

Now these shoes were a complete accident. It’s no secret I love to shop using the HauteLook appHauteLook is a branch of the Nordstrom brand and offers luxury products at a discount. I love them because anything I purchase online, I can easily return to any Nordstrom Rack location. Also, shipping is free with a purchase of $100 or more. Cue these shoes.

I needed just $10 to meet the $100 free shipping requirement so I added these boho fringe sandals knowing I’d just return them once they arrived. Strangely, out of the 6 items I ordered, these sandals were only one of two things I kept! The pictures online didn’t do them justice. What a fun and fashionable mistake that I can pair with jeans, shorts, dresses, whatever!

St. Patrick’s Day Nails

St. Patrick’s Day holds a special place in my heart. I spent some of my best years working at McFadden’s Irish Pub & Saloon in Grand Rapids. In fact, that’s where I was “discovered” but I digress.

This year I realized my ridiculous nail polish collection finally came in handy! (HaHa get it? “Nails.” “Handy.” Nails are on hands. Eh, I’ll stick to my day job.) I saw a photo on Pinterest and used it as inspiration for this DIY St. Patty’s Day mani.

Great Minds Think Alike…and Wear Chevron

Ellen Tailor Chevron Dress Faux Fur VestYou know you’re meant to be friends with someone when you show up to the same party wearing the same thing. Meet my great friend Bri. I walked into our mutual friend’s bridal shower and saw my twin! Clearly we both have great taste in chevron. 😉

I chose to break up the pattern by pairing the dress with this faux fur vest. Bri wore it with a gold belt and gorgeous Stella & Dot necklace. We both opted for the black tights and boots.

I’ve worn this dress before and received lots of compliments however you can’t buy it at the store anymore. Fear not! I’ve got your solution. Buy mine! I have this dress along with other items from my closet up for sale on my Poshmark site. Click HERE to shop this dress and other items that have been featured on my blog. If you haven’t signed up for Poshmark yet, use the code HFZCI for a $5 credit!

Holiday Tips

Ellen Tailor Black Booties Gold Tip

After yesterday’s tip to wearing leggings blog, a few of you asked about shirts long enough to pair with booty grabbing pants. This poncho-style sweater is perfect and comfy! Admittedly, it doesn’t photograph very well but trust me, it’s cute. While the sweater might be cozy the shoes are anything but!

Oh the things we ladies do in the name of style. Fingers crossed that these black and white printed booties get easier to wear once I break them in. I purchased these on a whim and never found the right outfit to wear them with. Want the same style but a little more versatile? Check out a similar pair here.

Last night as I caught up on my favorite TV shows, I gave myself a festive at-home manicure. I love the wine color trend and this OPI polish speaks to me. I’ve worn it so many times I felt I needed to spruce it up. My friend, Molly Mesnick, turned me on to this great gold polish from Revlon. One coat and you’re set! My secret to a great, smudge free, at-home manicure is Sally Hansen’s “Dries Instantly” top coatThis is a must get especially for on-the-go mommies who don’t have the time to wait around for their nails to dry.

What are some of your beauty tricks and must haves? I’d love to hear them!
