Mother’s Day Magic at Gene Juarez

“That was unbelievable!” my mom exclaimed as she finished her day of pampering at Gene Juarez. My jaw hit the floor. She can never unwind and relax but this day was different. I’m convinced the folks at Gene Juarez are miracle workers.

Ellen Tailor Gene Juarez Mother's Day - 4

This was the first time in three years that my mom was able to be with both of her daughters on Mother’s Day. My mom and sister flew out from Michigan and I couldn’t be more grateful to Gene Juarez for helping me create such a wonderful weekend!

Ellen Tailor Gene Juarez Mother's Day - 3Celina and Jada gave all three of us a mani and pedi experience unlike anything we’ve ever had before. Pedicures are done in private rooms and feel more like a massage. Cozy blankets, soothing sounds, and an aroma therapy mask. Ahhhh. I could fall asleep just thinking about it.

Mother’s Day Solutions for Procrastinators Like Me

Ellen Tailor Gene Juarez Mother's Day

My mom and sister are flying in from Michigan so we can all be together for Mother’s Day for the first time in three years. My mom is excited to have both her girls together and I wanted to find a way to pamper both of them and couldn’t imagine taking them anywhere but Gene Juarez.

When I moved to Seattle a little over two years ago, I was overwhelmed that I had to start from scratch when it came to my glam team. I’ll be honest. I was very intimidated by Gene Juarez thinking it was only for high society clients that had no budget when it came to their hair.

We did a promotion with The Wolf where a group of Gene Juarez‘s finest came in and pampered the entire morning show with manis & pedis. Everyone was so nice and down to earth! But what really sold me was after my recent hair emergency and my experience at their downtown location.

There was no doubt I was going to spoil my mom and sister, but I procrastinate…a lot. If you’re like me and haven’t done anything more than think about what to do, Gene Juarez has the best solution ever! They offer printable gift cards for all of us last minute shoppers that can be sent to your email as you head to brunch with dear old mom. Genius, right?! The Gene Juarez team made sure the gift cards were beautiful when printed last minute, too! Click HERE to shop, call (206) 861-0909, or visit any of Gene Juarez’s 10 salons & spas.

Are you a last minute shopper? What are you doing for your mom?

Manic Manicure

The perks of being a single girl? Having the master bathroom all to myself! I don’t know about you but if I don’t have things where I can see them, I forget I have them. Out of sight, out of mind. There’s nothing worse than buying something only to find out that you already have a brand new bottle hiding somewhere in a drawer.

I had a basket under my sink that was filled with nail polishes. Two or there were almost the exact same shade! I was wasting money because I’d forget what I already owned. I found a shelf in my garage that was collecting dust and decided to put it to good use.

I hung the unique shelf above my bathroom towels where all of my polishes are now visible and have their own place. In the winter, I place the darker polishes up front then switch out lighter colors in the summer. Ever since hanging this up, I haven’t bought a single polish because I clearly have more than one person should ever have! (But that doesn’t mean I don’t love getting new colors in my Ipsy Glam Bag.)

With all of the polishes on display, there’s so much inspiration for fun and colorful DIY manicures. My secret to a great, smudge free, at-home manicure is Sally Hansen’s “Dries Instantly” top coat. (Click the link and get it for less than $5 bucks!) This is a must get especially for on-the-go mommies who don’t have the time to wait around for their nails to dry. Here’s a couple of cute manicure ideas that I found on Pinterest that are perfect for Valentine’s Day. Perhaps you want to spoil yourself and invest in a salon manicure. If you’re in the Seattle area, let me suggest Gene Juarez. I got my first ever Shellac manicure from Aiden at the downtown location a few weeks ago and I’ll admit, I was skeptical. Would it ruin my nails? Would it last? Holy crap! The mani lasted for well over two weeks and I can’t even count how many compliments I received. And no, the Shellac absolutely did NOT ruin my nails. If you’re not in the Seattle area, show these photos to your favorite manicurist and ask if they can recreate these Valentine’s Day inspired looks.
